United Street Rods of Idaho

USRI, Idaho's Automotive Lobbying Organization, held their 2009 Fall Meeting at Black Canyon Dam this year. Although the weather was a bit dampening, the spirits were not. The setting was beautiful, the people friendly and the provided food tasty. Baked or fried chicken, potato salad, macaroni salad, melons and fruit, cookies and a beautiful 30th anniversary cake. If you're not familiar with USRI, take a look at their site and see what wonderful works they do with all of us in mind.

1st Annual Melba Outlaws Car Show

Red cars, yellow cars, fast cars, mellow cars...

The First Annual Melba Outlaws Car Show

was a rousing success! What a beautiful morning, for visiting with good folks and looking at wonderful examples of mechanical ingenuity! I'm just sorry I had to miss the end of the day Burnouts in the store parking lot! I hear it was a great way to close the show!
And me without my camera...

Oh, and

HAPPY 75TH BIRTHDAY! to Lee Cook.

Speedy Recovery

We would like to wish Jason Squires a speedy recovery. He was involved in a motorcycle vs. automobile challenge on Sept. 4. He will be ok, but has some mending to do.

Also, the Melba Outlaws will be hosting a car show at the Melba Market Sunday Sept. 27 from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Breakfast at 9:00 a.m. Prizes and Giveaways. We're not sure the bouncing Ford Girls will be there or not.

SUSPENSION NOTIFICATION

First off, the management of Firebird Raceway will not tolerate under any circumstances the use of electronics in any No Box class. Secondly, cheating will not be condoned and immediate action will be levied in the form of indefinite suspension from Firebird and the NHRA.

On Friday, July 3rd, Joe McDonald was caught using a delay box in Club Bracket #2. He was disqualified from the event and stripped of the eliminator victory. He will lose all of his points for the 2009 season in Pro eliminator, the Club Challenge Series and Outlaw Street competition.

McDonald will receive an indefinite suspension of one year, starting on July 6, 2009 and continue through July 6, 2010, after which he can apply for reinstatement.

His competition privileges will also be suspended with the National Hot Rod Association and all NHRA Member Tracks.

Firebird takes no pleasure in issuing this stern action, but will do what is necessary to maintain a level playing field for any and all racing participants during the course of the racing season.
